Mighty Oak
Mighty oak tree
You majestically stand and touch the sky
You majestically stand and touch the sky
Over time you've grown to grand
weathered the storms and made a stand
weathered the storms and made a stand
From a small acorn you grew
How you got here, nobody knew
How you got here, nobody knew
But here you are, languishing on summers day
I'll have to leave, but you get to stay
What secrets you've surely gathered and have locked away
I'll have to leave, but you get to stay
What secrets you've surely gathered and have locked away
Witness to all who happened by your way
Perhaps a picnic in your growing shade
Or witness to the flashing blade
Or witness to the flashing blade
That forced initials into your thick bark
As birdsong from your canopy played
As birdsong from your canopy played
From meadowlarks who came and stayed
Even just for a short while, until they lit in single file
There's other oaks nearby
But not as big or old or wise
But not as big or old or wise
With years to go, to reach the skies
One look out this window and off I go
When your leaves lightly flutter
In the summers gentle breeze
Revealing pricks of golden sunlight
I'm captured in daydream
Miles away
One look out this window and off I go
When your leaves lightly flutter
In the summers gentle breeze
Revealing pricks of golden sunlight
I'm captured in daydream
Miles away
