WHAT ABOUT GOODBYES

WHAT ABOUT GOODBYES

WRITTEN BY J.R HILTON

OCTOBER 2018

DAYS FLOW JUST LIKE WATER
IN A STREAM
THE WORLD BECOMES
JUST ANOTHER LUCID DREAM
EVERYTHING COMING AT ME ALL AT ONCE
DO I EVEN OPEN UP MY EYES
TO SEE ANYMORE
ALL I SEE IS BLUE

LET ME SEE THE SUN AGAIN
COME ON PUSH ME THROUGH
I PRAY THE DAYS AREN'T TOO LONG
I GET BACK TO MY OLD SELF
WHERE I BELONG
ALWAYS A SMILE
A FOOT IN THE FUTURE
WHERE I DARE
CAUGHT ME IN A HARD PLACE
CAUGHT ME UNAWARE

IF IT ALL FALLS IN
WHAT ABOUT GOODBYES
WHO AND WHEN
I WON'T SEE AGAIN
MAYBE I'M GOING OUT
ON A LIMB
AND MY CHANCES
AREN'T THAT SLIM
I CAN HOPE BUT I CAN'T DENY
I DON'T WANT TO DIE
THERE'S SO MUCH HERE
 I NEED TO DO
TOO MANY THINGS
 I NEED TO SEE

I CAN'T STAND THIS WAITING
AND I DON'T LIKE MYSTERY
GIVE ME AN ANSWER
I CAN EMBRACE
REPLACE THIS WORRIED LOOK
ON MY FACE
LET ME SEE THE CHANGES
I CAN MAKE
I'M NOT DONE IMPROVING
STILL NOT THE BEST
THAT I CAN BE

A PRAYER I GET TO SEE
TOMORROW
SUNRISES, SUNSETS
THE WHISPER OF THE WIND
THE KISS OF THE SUN
LOVE TO GREET ME WHEN I WAKE
MY SOULS NOT READY
TO LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND

GIVE ME ONE MORE CHANCE
 TO SEE
DAYS FLOW LIKE
 WATER IN A STREAM
WIDE OPEN SPACES
WHERE I CAN DREAM
TOO MUCH PRIDE
TO EVER HIDE
TO GO DOWN
WITHOUT A FIGHT
