I REMEMBER
WRITTEN B J.R HILTON
2017
SOMETIMES I GET THINKING, ABOUT ANOTHER TIME
THAT'S SLIPPED SO FARAWAY
I REMEMBER SCHOOL COUNTRY ROADS
TRACTORS AND WAGONS STRAINING UNDER THEIR LOADS
MARCHING BANDS AND COUNTRY FAIRS
DAYS FILLED WITH LITTLE AND NO CARES
THE FIGHTS THE CHEERS
AND ALL OF THE DARES
I REMEMBER SUMMER VACATIONS
I REMEMBER LAKES AND SAND
DAYS FILLED WITH SUNSHINE
FROM START TO END
I REMEMBER THE STEADY DRONE OF TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY
HOW I COULDN'T WAIT TO SEE THE WORLD
LOOKING AT THE MOON AND STARS
THE FEELING SOMETHING BIGGER WAS OUT THERE
EXACTLY WHAT I WASN'T SURE
BUT IT WAS SOOTHING
BRINGING PEACE TO EARTH WHILE SHE'S ASLEEP
I REMEMBER RUNNING THROUGH FIELDS OF CORN
IN SECOND HAND JEANS ALREADY WORN
GOOD TIMES THAT I HAD OFFSET BY THE SAD
I REMEMBER DREAMS TOUCHING MY SOUL
THE DAY I SAID I HAD TO GO
I REMEMBER DAYS ON THE ROAD
WEST ON THE HIGHWAY AS FAR AS IT GOES
I REMEMBER SALVATION ARMY BELLS
RINGING OUT IN THE SNOWY STREETS
I REMEMBER LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO SLEEP
SHIVERING IN THE WINTER COLD
THINKING ABOUT CALIFORNIA AND COULD I MAKE IT THAT FAR
I REMEMBER HIPPIES AND GAS-TOWN
I REMEMBER HITCHHIKING EVERYWHERE I WENT
OCEAN TIDES AND FERRY RIDES
EXPLORING ISLANDS IN THE SUN
CASTLES THAT WERE LOST AND WON
MEMORIES SINKING DEEP INTO THE CENTURY
I REMEMBER UNTIL I CAN'T REMEMBER NO MORE
SWEET, MEMORIES
