COUNTRY ROADS
WRITTEN BY J.R HILTON
2017
EYES OPEN TO THE DAWN
A HALF HOUR MORE AND I'LL BE GONE
OUT ON THE HIGHWAY, DRIVING INTO THE SUN
SWINGING NORTH ON COUNTRY ROADS
FIELDS OF GOLD WAITING IN THE MORNING SUN
WHISPERING PINES CALLING ME
PAINTED SKY, OLD BARNS, WINDMILLS
THAT I PASS BY
INCITE A FEELING OF PEACE IN MY SOUL
IGNITE A DREAM, I CAN'T LET GO
FEELING FREE, NOBODY PULLING ME
TO THINGS AND PLACES I DON'T WANT TO BE
MARKING TIME ON COUNTRY ROADS
OUT WHERE NOBODY KNOWS
STANDING THERE IN A MIST
NOTHING THAT I WOULDN'T RISK, TO GET HERE
OUT ON COUNTRY ROADS TO STAY
CAN'T KEEP ME AWAY
SOON AS I LEAVE I START TO MISS IT
WHAT DO I DO
OUT IN THE FIELD CONTEMPLATING
THINKING ABOUT A WAY, TO MAKE IT EVERYDAY
EVERY NIGHT, I CAN'T LOOK AWAY
LOOKING OUT MY BACK PORCH
LOOKING AT THE MOON
LISTENING TO THE NIGHT
I CAN HARDLY HEAR A THING
JUST ME AND YOU, COUNTRY ROAD
OUR OWN LITTLE HEAVEN, WE'LL NAME IT SHANGRA LA
HANG A SIGN WHERE EVERYONE CAN SEE
RIGHT NEXT TO THE SIGN THAT SAYS THIS IS PRIVATE PROPERTY
OUR SANCTUARY ON A COUNTRY ROAD
WHISPERING PINES CALLING ME BACK HOME
WHEN I COME HOME, LEAVE ALL THAT CITY STUFF BEHIND
QUIETLY UNWIND, BENEATH A MILLION STARS
WINDMILLS, PAINTED SKY, PASSING BY
I THINK IT'S MINE, I THINK I CAN DO THIS
IGNITE A DREAM, MAKE A WISH
SEND IT AWAY
WE CAN WAIT ANOTHER DAY
FOR COUNTRY ROADS, BATHED IN SUNLIGHT
DRIVING RAIN, AND THE NORTHERN LIGHTS
AROUND THE FIRE, BURNING BRIGHT
THE MAGIC OF THE STILLNESS
I CAN'T LET GO
