WARRIOR

IF I WAS IN A BETTER PLACE
I COULD BEAT THE ODDS
BET I COULD COAX A SMILE
RIGHT FROM THE GODS
I COULD LIVE WORRY FREE
I COULD HAVE THE THINGS I WANTED, THAT I SEE
I'D BE SOMEONE, EVERYONE WANTS TO KNOW
FORTUNE AND RELUCTANT FAME
IF I HAD IT ALL, I COULD PLAY THE GAME
LIGHT UP MY OWN WAY
INSTEAD OF SLIPPING THROUGH THE CRACKS
DROWNING IN RAIN, JUST THE SAME
GAVE UP ON HIDING MY FACE IN SHAME
THIS IS NOT WHO I AM AT ALL
SURE THEY CAN PUT ME DOWN
BUT I WON'T STAY
THE WARRIOR IN ME WANTS TO PLAY
I'VE NEVER GIVEN UP
TO THIS DAY
MY HEART WOULDN'T ALLOW IT
I'LL GET THERE SOMEHOW
IF I HAVE TO CRAWL
BUT IF I CAN, I'LL WALK IN TALL
PASSING PEOPLE
THAT I DON'T KNOW
EACH ONE DEFLECTS MY GLANCE
AS THEY GO
ISN'T THAT INDIGNANT
HOW CAN THAT BE JUSTIFIED
I STILL DEFY, THE INCLINATIONS
AS THEY RISE LIKE A MIST AT MIDNIGHT
OVERGROUND I'M MAKING TRACKS IN RECORD TIME
BREAKING THROUGH ALL THE SUBLIME
TAKING IT BACK, ONE BY DAY IT'S TIME
MIDNIGHT'S BROKEN WITHOUT THE MOON
DARKNESS ENVELOPES MY ROOM
AS I LIE THERE STILL
MY MIND RACING FROM ONE THING TO THE NEXT
SLEEP JUST WON'T COME
THINKING ABOUT ALL THERE IS TO DO
AND ALL THAT I'VE DONE
LIFT ME FROM THIS MEDIOCRITY
TO A LOFTY PLACE WHERE DREAMS CAN FLY
AS CLOUDS GO DRIFTING BY
HEAVEN SENT ANOTHER DAY
SO I'LL GET ON MY WAY
SURE THEY CAN PUT ME DOWN
BUT I WON'T STAY
THE WARRIOR IN ME WANTS TO PLAY
IN THE SHADOWS OF THE TREES
WAITING RUSTLING IN THE BREEZE
THEN SLIPPING SILENTLY AWAY
ANGELS GUIDE ME THROUGH THE VALE
LIFT ME FROM THIS SILENT HELL
THE WARRIOR IN ME, WANTS TO PLAY
BUT I CAN'T STAY
