HEAVEN RIGHT HERE
WRITTEN BY JEFF R HILTON
NOVEMBER 2018
THE SKIES TURNED BLACK
AND FILLED WITH RAIN
SOME RAN FOR COVER
WHILE OTHERS WERE LED
SOME DIDN'T CARE
LOOKED BLANKLY AHEAD
WHILE STILL OTHERS
JUST LOOKED UP AT THE SKY
A SMILE ON THEIR FACES
FULL OF WONDER AND WHY
PATIENTLY WAITING
FOR THE END OF THE STORM
STANDING THERE SHIVERING
TRYING TO KEEP WARM
WELL IT WASN'T LONG
THE SKIES BEGAN TO CLEAR
EVERYONE SHOUTED
THERE'S A RAINBOW HERE
AS THEY STARED ON
IN AWE OF THE SIGHT
THE COLORS SO
VIVID AND BRIGHT
THE RAYS OF THE SUN
RETURNED TO THE DAY
EVERYONE SEEMED GRATEFUL
EVEN IF IN SOME SMALL WAY
DUSK CAME
I WATCHED IT FALL
ON STREETS EMPTY
AND SILENT
A CONTRAST TO THE DAY
THE MOON SHOWS ITS FACE
ALONGSIDE THE STARS
INDIFFERENT TO
THE SCENES BELOW
EXCEPT TO LEND A GLOW
THE WIND PICKED UP
I SWEAR IT CRIED
JOINED THE WAVES
DROVE THE TIDE
CRASHING INTO SHORE
A TASTE, A TEASER FOR MORE
HEAVEN RIGHT HERE
I DREAM, I YEARN
I HOLD, I NEED THIS
WOULDN'T WANT TO MISS
EARTH AND SKY
THE FREEDOM AFFORDED
THE WHERE THE WHY
THE REASONS MY HEARTS
TIED TO YOU
I NEED THIS
HEAVEN RIGHT HERE
I FACE MY FEARS
THE YEARS GONE BY
WHY LIE
ONE TOO MANY FOOLS
DON'T PLAY FAIR
NOT BY THE RULES
I SEE, I FEEL
I PRAY, I KNEEL
I GIVE, I TAKE
I LAUGH, I CRY
THE INSIDE OF A SOUL
PROGRAMMED ONLY TO SURVIVE
JUST ONE HOPE IN IT ALL
TO COME OUT ALIVE
