DRIFTING AND DREAMING

DRIFTING DOWN THE RIVER, IN GOLDEN SUN
WHEAT FIELDS PASS ME BY
AS EAGLES FLY ON A MORNING SKY
I HUNKER DOWN CLOSE MY EYES
AND LET THE RIVER TAKE ME WHERE IT GOES
AS I LIE HERE DRIFTING AND DREAMING
BENEATH A SUMMER SKY
NOT A SINGLE WORRY, NOT A SINGLE SOUL
NOT IN A HURRY TO GO
BURIED IN LONG SUMMER DAYS
THE HOURS JUST SEEM TO DRIFT AWAY
FIND ME HIDING IN BETWEEN
SOME KIND OF BEAUTIFUL DREAM
PADDLING UNSEEN BENEATH THE OVERHANGING TREES
GLIDING SILENTLY LIGHTLY TOUCHED BY A BREEZE
FOLLOWED BY, OPEN SKY,LAND WIDE OPEN AND DRY
I STEER MY BOAT FOR THE BANK BY SOME TREES
I'M INSTANTLY FLOODED WITH MEMORIES
I KNOW THIS PLACE WELL
I SET A CAMP AND HAVE SOME TEA
AS THE SUN FALLS BEHIND THE HILLS
I KNOW I'M FREE
THE SKY TURNS OUT TO BE
FILLED WITH STARS
I SIT BY THE FIRE WRAPPED IN AWE
THE COYOTES CALL
THERE'S NO OTHER SOUND AT ALL
PEACE LIKE HEAVEN, DESOLATION, ALL ALONE
IN THIS BIG LAND
RIGHT HERE WHERE I AM, WHERE I STAND
SET ME FREE AGAIN
HEAD OF THE LINE, WHAT COMES NEXT
GIVE ME A CALL OR SEND ME A TEXT
THE PEACE HERE SEEPS INTO YOUR SOUL
HOLDS ON TIGHT, IT WON'T LET GO
ALL TOO EASY WE LOSE CONTROL
SOMETIMES WE JUST NEED A PLACE LIKE THIS
THAT WE CAN GO
WHERE QUIET LENDS ITSELF TO WORK THINGS OUT
OR TO MAKE YOU FORGET, THERE IS NEVER A DOUBT
DRIFTING DOWN THE RIVER
IN THE GOLDEN SUN
SOMETHING THAT JUST HAS TO BE DONE
DRIFTING AND DREAMING
BENEATH A SUMMER SKY
NO WORRIES NOT A SINGLE SOUL
THERE'S NO HURRY TO GO
