COLD DARK NIGHT

DECEMBER 2016
DARKNESS EARLY NOW
THE HILLS TURN WHITE
LOOKING DOWN ON CITY LIGHTS
CARS MOVING, BUMPER TO BUMPER SLOW
HEADED TO WHERE THEY ARE GOING
A FULL MOON IS RISING
AS IT CASTS IT'S LIGHT
ON A COLD DARK NIGHT
SITTING WARM BESIDE THE HEARTH
TIME TO ADD ANOTHER LOG TO THE FIRE
I GET LOST FOR HOURS
MY EYES TAKE ME STRAIGHT THROUGH THE FLAMES
TO THE OTHER SIDE
FANTASY AND REALITY COLLIDE
IT'S A DIFFERENT WORLD
WHERE I GO SOMETIMES
ALWAYS SUMMER THERE
LITTLE BIT OF RAIN
BUT OTHERWISE FAIR
I HEAR YOU CALL MY NAME
AND I'M FALLING THROUGH THE FLAMES
YOU ASK ME IF I WAS ASLEEP
A SECRET THAT I KEEP
A PLACE I CAN GO
WHERE SMILES DON'T KNOW
THE COLD OF WINTERS NIGHT
ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FIRES LIGHT
IT'S BURNING LOW
WATCH THE EMBERS GLOW
DIE DOWN ONE BY ONE
UNTIL THERE'S NO MORE THEY'RE ALL DONE
YOU'RE ASLEEP BESIDE ME IN YOUR CHAIR
BLISSFULLY UNAWARE
OF MY LOVE FOR YOU
ON THIS COLD DARK NIGHT
I KISS YOU GENTLY ON YOUR CHEEK
LEAD YOU TO BED AND PULL DOWN THE SHEET
YOU BARELY AWAKEN AND NOW YOU'RE ASLEEP
SOMEWHERE OFF IN A DREAM
MAYBE SOMETHING THAT YOU'VE SEEN
IN THOSE FLAMES
BLISSFULLY UNAWARE, THAT THE SNOW IS FALLING
ON THIS COLD DARK NIGHT
THAT WE WERE DREAMING BY THE FIRELIGHT
LATE IN THE EVENING, LYING WITH YOU
THE WARMTH THAT I FEEL
LOVE COMING THROUGH
ON THIS COLD DARK NIGHT
