ALL THE THINGS YOU KNOW
A LIFE FILLED WITH UNCERTAINTY
IS THE KIND OF LIFE I'VE HAD
I NEVER SAW IT COMING, BUT I KNEW AT EVERY TURN
SOMETHING NEW TO DEAL WITH
SOMETHING TO GET USED TO, SOMETHING TO LEARN
AND THOUGH I TRIED TO PREPARE MYSELF
FOR LIFE'S LITTLE EVENTUALITIES
SOME REALITIES I'D OF PREFERRED NOT TO KNOW
THAT'S THE WAY IT GOES
THE WINDS OF CHANGE NEVER CEASE TO BLOW
ALL THE THINGS YOU KNOW COULD NEVER BE ENOUGH
TO GUIDE YOU THROUGH UNSCATHED
PROTECT YOU FROM CRADLE TO GRAVE
ONE DAY HERE AND ONE DAY THERE
BEFORE YOU KNOW IT TWENTY YEARS SLIPPED BY
YOU WONDER WHAT IT IS TO EASE THE PAIN
THAT YOU HAVEN'T TRIED
THE SKIES SEEMED BLUER THEN
NIGHTS WERE INNOCENT AND LONG
EVERYONE WAS KINDER THEN, BROTHERHOOD WAS STRONG
I KNEW BETTER WHERE I STOOD
NOT AT ALL LIKE TODAY
STANDING HERE ON THIS CRUMBLING GROUND
HOW COULD CENTURIES HAVE GOTTEN PAST
SO MANY AND SO MUCH DIDN'T LAST
IN A LIFE FILLED WITH UNCERTAINTY
I FOUND MY COMFORT WHERE I COULD
I PUT MY TRUST IN FATE, THREW IT TO THE WORLD
CAST IT ON THE WINDS OF CHANGE
TO SEE WHICH DIRECTION IT WOULD GO
