RIP TIDE

SEPTEMBER 2020
YOU SEE THE SKIES
CHANGE FROM BLUE TO GRAY
SEE THE SEASON SLIPPING AWAY
INDIAN SUMMER CAN'T HOLD ON
THE WIND BLOWS TOO STRONG
I'M SURE IT WON'T BE LONG
BEFORE WE FIND OURSELVES IN SNOW
SHOULD OF LET GO
SHOULD BE GONE
THIS IS GETTING OLD
THE TIMES I'VE BEEN TOLD
YOU'D THINK I'D BE SOLD
BUT NO HERE WE GO AGAIN
STILL NOT FREE ENOUGH TO FLY
CAUGHT IN A RIP TIDE
AND I DON'T KNOW QUITE WHY
YOU COULD SAY
BUT YOU DON'T KNOW FOR SURE
YOU'VE NEVER BEEN
BUT I'VE BEEN THERE AND BACK AGAIN
MORE ENOUGH TO KNOW
YOU SIT THERE AND WATCH
SHOW AFTER SHOW
AND BEFORE YOU KNOW
YOU LOSE SIGHT OF WHAT'S REAL
ARE THE THINGS YOU FEEL
REALLY FROM YOUR HEART
OR SOMEWHERE DISTANT
THAT YOU THINK SETS YOU APART
WE'RE ALL DIFFERENT
BUT WE'RE THE SAME
STUCK INSIDE THIS SAME OLD GAME
BUT ANOTHER GRAIN OF SAND FALLING
THERE'S ONLY THIS TIME
AND IF YOU WANT TO COMPROMISE
LEAN ON THE SIDE OF GOOD
ITS ALL THAT YOU CAN DO
ALL THAT YOU SHOULD
YOU CAN ONLY SHOULDER
SO MUCH RESPONSIBILITY
BEFORE YOU START TO FALTER
YOU JUST WANT TO LEAVE
YOU CAN'T BREATHE
CAUGHT IN A RIP TIDE
AND I DON'T KNOW QUITE WHY
YOU COULD SAY
BUT YOU DON'T KNOW
CAUGHT IN A RIP TIDE
