THE SUN IS A GHOST
WRITTEN BY J.R HILTON
2018
I WATCH THE RAIN
ONE EYE ON THE STORM
I BUILD A FIRE
TO KEEP WARM
ALL THE TREES HAVE TURNED
TO YELLOW AND GOLD
ITS LIKE SUMMER TURNED
ITS BACK ON YOU
INDIFFERENCE, STANDOFFISH
APPROACHING CRUEL
SEPTEMBER RAIN TURNS TO SNOW
STUCK HERE AGAIN
NOWHERE ELSE TO GO
NO SOUTHERN COMFORT
ICE INSTEAD OF SAND
SOMEWHERE WARM NOT EVEN
PART OF THE PLAN
LET THE NORTH WINDS BLOW
AND HOPE THEIR SOMEWHAT KIND
ITS ONLY THE SUN MOVING AWAY
GOING ON A HOLIDAY
I SIT HERE WATCH THE LEAVES
FALLING TO THE GROUND
I FOUND THEY
NEVER MAKE A SOUND
LYING THERE A BLANKET
AGAINST THE SNOW
JUST LIKE ME
NOWHERE TO GO
A WHISPERED HUSH
TREES LAID BARE
NO LEAVES
CAN'T EVEN BLUSH
STARK AGAINST GRAY SKIES
ALWAYS SEEM TO FIND ME
I CAN'T HIDE
WHILE SHADOWS GROW LONGER
THE SUN IS A GHOST
A STRANGER
IN THE WHITEST SNOW
STOOD HERE IN
FROZEN DARKNESS
WAITING FOR THE SUN
TO COME BACK HERE
BECAUSE I CAN'T GO
JUST A FEW WEEKS AGO
ALL THE LEAVES
WERE ON THE TREES
NOW THEY'RE FAR BELOW
LIE THERE
BENEATH THE SNOW
I MISSED MY CHANCE TO GO
AWAY
LONELY AS THE MOON
WHY DOES SUMMER
HAVE TO LEAVE SO SOON
ALWAYS TAKES
A PIECE OF MY HEART
LEAVES ME WAITING SO LONG
TO GET IT BACK
SHORT GRAY COLD DAYS
WHO NEEDS THEM ANYWAYS
NOT ME
I'D RATHER FOLLOW THE SUN
TO WHERE ITS STRONG
MADE FOR SUMMER
WHERE MY HEART
RISES LIKE THE TIDE
AND NO THE SAND
WILL HAVE TO WAIT
FOR ME
WHILE SEPTEMBER RAIN
TURNS TO SNOW
