THIS DAY
WRITTEN BY: J.R HILTON
OCTOBER 2016
WOKE UP THIS MORNING
SUNBEAMS DANCING ACROSS THE WALLS
SPILLING INTO THE HALL
LEADING ME AWAY, INTO THIS SUMMER DAY
WISH THAT IT COULD STAY LIKE CALIFORNIA
A SUMMER STATE OF MIND, SUNNY ALL THE TIME
WE COULD GO FOR A DRIVE
OUT TO THE COUNTRYSIDE
MAYBE WE COULD CLIMB A HILL
SPREAD OUT A BLANKET AND CHILL BENEATH A TREE
DAYDREAM THE AFTERNOON AWAY
MY LOVE WHAT WOULD YOU SAY
A WHOLE DAY BEFORE US TO WILE AWAY
THIS DAY WAS GIVEN NOT TO WASTE
SWEET AS HONEY, SO TASTE GET YOUR FILL
WE'RE GONNA CLIMB THAT HILL
FROLIC IN THE SUN WHERE THE AIR IS FRESH
OH THIS DAY WILL SHINE
I PROCLAIM IT YOURS AND MINE
TAKE US ALL THE WAY THROUGH, BUT TAKE IT SLOW
AND MAKE IT LAST, MAKE IT BEAUTIFUL
THE SPELL HAS BEEN CAST
YOU AND I CAUGHT UP IN A SUMMER DAY
ONE COFFEE ONE TEA AND WE'RE ON OUR WAY
NICE TO HAVE YOU BY MY SIDE
SHARING THIS DAY, SMILING BESIDE ME
AS WE MAKE OUR GETAWAY
WHATEVER ROAD FOLLOWS THE SUN, I'LL BE THERE
A LITTLE LONGER, A LITTLE FURTHER EACH TIME
THIS DAY IS YOURS, THIS DAY IS MINE
YOU CAN'T HELP BUT SMILE ON A DAY LIKE THIS
THIS KIND OF DAY, SHOULDN'T BE MISSED
HAPPY FEELING INSIDE OF ME
IT'S ONLY GETTING STRONGER AS IT GOES
KEEP IT LASTING LONGER I WOULD SUPPOSE
THE COUNTRY GOING BY, ALWAYS LOOKS BETTER IN THE SUN
REACH OUT TAKE IT AND RUN
YOU NEVER KNOW IF YOU'LL GET ANOTHER ONE
