RISE AND FALL
WRITTEN BY: J.R HILTON
JULY 2016
RISE AND FALL, YOU'LL NEVER SEE IT ALL
RISE AND FALL, JUST LIKE A RIVER OR A SEA
SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE IT'S FALLING ON ME
SOMETIMES YOU CAN'T TOUCH ME, LOOK AT ME GO
REACHING OUT FOR THE PRIZE
YOU SEE THAT KIND OF RISE
BUT YOU DIDN'T SEE THE FALLS I SURVIVED
RISE AND FALL, LIKE THE HEARTBEAT IN YOUR CHEST
RISE AND FALL, LIKE THE RHYTHM OF THE RAIN
I WANT TO KEEP ON RISING, I DON'T WANT TO FALL AGAIN
BUT LIKE A KING UPON A THRONE
YOU'RE SURROUNDED BUT YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN
RISE AND FALL, LIKE THE LIGHT OF THE DAY
THE SKIES GO FROM BLUE TO GREY
AND BACK TO BLUE AGAIN
THE TEMPERATURE BEGINS TO RISE
JUST LIKE WE DO ONE AND ALL
IT ALWAYS RISES, JUST BEFORE IT FALLS
THE FEELING, THE SMELL IN THE AIR
THAT CLINGS TO YOUR SKIN
JUST BEFORE THE RAINS BEGINS
AND YOU KNOW YOU'RE THERE
THE RISE AND FALL OF EMPIRES PAST
THAT DIDN'T KNOW THAT THEY WOULDN'T LAST
EVERYTHING THAT RISES MUST FALL
LAWS OF NATURE THAT APPLY TO ALL
WE NEVER THINK THAT WE COULD EVER FALL THAT FAR DOWN
UNTIL YOU HAVE TO PICK YOURSELF BACK UP FROM THE GROUND
SO RISE AND FALL AND RISE AGAIN
IF THAT'S HOW IT HAS TO BE
SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE IT'S FALLING IN ON ME
RISE AND FALL, YOU'LL NEVER SEE IT ALL
SOMEDAY YOU WON'T RISE AND FALL
THEY'LL BE NO MORE YOU AT ALL
