WORKING MAN BLUES

WORKING MAN BLUES
Written by: Jeff R Hilton

***
AWOKE IN EARLY MORNING
THE CHILL OF OCTOBER IN MY BONES
HEADED DOWNSTAIRS TO THE COFFEE POT
FILLED MY CUP, HMM, NICE AND HOT
THATS THE ONLY THING THAT GETS ME GOING
HELPS ME START MY DAY
CHASING THE DOLLAR, SAME THING EVERYDAY
WORKING, FOR SOMEONE ELSE

C H O R U S

THOUGHT BY NOW, I COULD STAY IN BED
STAY UP LATE AND WORK MY CRAFT
NOBODY TELLING ME WHAT TO DO
NO MORE STEEL TOES,  NO MORE WORKING MAN BLUES
THIRTY FIVE YEARS OF WORKING HARD
FORTY YEARS OF PUNCHING CARDS
I'M STARTING TO FEEL LIKE I'VE HAD MY FILL
OF CHASING DOWN THAT DOLLAR BILL
IT'S AMAZING, I'M STILL SOMEWHAT SANE

NOW I HAVE TO GET MYSELF GOING
BUT ALL THE TRAFFIC IS SLOWING
TRY TO,  KEEP DOWN MY STRESS
BUT WHICHEVER WAY I TAKE IT'S A MESS
ONE OUT OF EVERY TWENTY PEOPLE
 BEHIND THE WHEEL CAN'T DRIVE
AND FOUR OF THEM, WILL NEVER STAY ALIVE
RUSH HOUR TRAFFICS ALWAYS HELL
I'M LUCKY TO MAKE THAT SIX O'CLOCK DINNER BELL

I'M ALMOST AT THE END OF MY ROPE
BUT SOMEHOW I THINK THAT THERE'S STILL HOPE
HOPE ITS MORE THAN JUST MY STRATEGY TO COPE
I'M TRYING MY BEST, BUT I'M GETTING TIRED
ALWAYS OVER AND ABOVE WHATS REQUIRED
I NEVER EXPECTED THE LIFE I'VE HAD
I KEEP ON SMILING, TRY NOT TO BE SAD

REPEAT CHORUS

Song Lyrics: Picasso, Artists Lament

PICASSO (ARTISTS LAMENT)
I COULD OF MADE IT
IF LUCK WAS ON MY SIDE
DIDN'T MAKE SO MANY BAD CHOICES
HURT SO MUCH INSIDE
SURE MY WINDOWS GETTING SMALLER
FOR THE FAME AND FORTUNE I SET OUT TO FIND
BUT I'M STILL HERE TRYING
GOING OUT OF MY MIND
WHOEVER FIRST SPOKE THE WORDS STARVING ARTIST
SPOKE WITH ACCURACY OF ALL TIME
BRUSH IN MY HAND, LOVE IN EVERY STROKE
EVERY CANVAS TRYING TO OUTDO THE LAST
AND SUCCEEDING
SURPASSING EVEN MY OWN EXPECTATIONS
I WANT TO SHOW THE WORLD WHAT I CAN DO
I'M JUST NOT SURE HOW
I'M JUST AN ARTIST AFTER ALL
WAITING TO BE DISCOVERED
WISH I WASN'T SO HUMBLE, WISH I WASN'T SO SHY
MAYBE ALL THESE PAINTINGS
ARE WAITING FOR ME TO DIE
chorus
PICASSO LEFT US IN 1973, SUCH A SAD DAY
BUT IT LEFT AN OPENING FOR ME
ALWAYS ON THE DARK SIDE,
LOOKING FOR THE BRIGHT SIDE
KALEIDOSCOPE OF COLORS, ALL RIGHT BEFORE ME
I TRY TO USE THEM ALL
BUT I TEND TO LEAN ON BLUE, I DO
I JUST CAN'T HELP IT, ITS WHAT'S INSIDE OF ME
TRYING TO GET OUT JUST LIKE ME
I JUST WANT TO BE FREE
I WANT TO CARRY ON, BE A PERSON OF NOTE
FOR WHAT I'VE CAPTURED ON CANVAS
HOPE TO EVERLASTING VIEW
SPECULATING ON WHAT I WAS THINKING
 AND WHAT I KNEW
I'M AN ARTIST, I DON'T EXPECT YOU TO UNDERSTAND
I'M AN ARTIST, IT'S NEVER SOFT WHERE I LAND
PART OF THE PERSONA
PART OF THE MYSTIQUE
PART OF SOMETHING THAT'S SO UNIQUE
BRUSH IN MY LEFT HAND, TRYING TO PAINT THE SKY
THINKING ABOUT PICASSO, BUT I'M NOT SURE WHY
repeat chorus

A POIGNANT POEM NOT TO BE MISSED

A very poignant political poem, eluding to the mindset of Government Agenda in present North America
A wake-up call to Americans and Canadians
If every person that read this, shared it with someone encouraging
those people to do the same, perhaps this could make a difference in our future.

RISE

EVERYBODY IS TALKING ABOUT IT
EVERYBODY IS TALKING AROUND IT
EMPTY WORDS IF NO ONE MOVES
ACTIONS WAITING TO BE USED
WE MUST PULL TOGETHER AND RISE
AGAINST THIS BIG MACHINE RAGING OUT OF CONTROL, FEEDING ON YOUR BANKROLL
GRIND YOU DOWN TO DUST
MOVING TO THE NEXT IN LINE
FREEDOM AND CHOICE SHRINKING ALL THE TIME

IF THE WORLD NEEDS MORE HEROES
WE'RE RIGHT HERE
RISE BEFORE YOU LIVE IN FEAR
WE CAN ALL BE SISTERS AND BROTHERS
IN TAKING BACK OUR WORLD
COME ON RISE TOGETHER
THE BATTLE FLAGS UNFURLED

RISE AGAINST THE BIG MACHINE
THAT RUNS ITSELF ON GREED
PRESS UPON THESE PEOPLE, UNTIL THEY MUST CONCEDE
FOR ALL OUR SAKE AND THOSE NOT BORN
REMOVE THE THREATS THAT LEAVE US TORN
TORN FROM FREEDOMS THAT WE'VE EARNED
TO REBUILD THE BRIDGES THAT THEY'VE BURNED
RISE, RISE, RISE.  THEIR ALREADY WAITING
IT WON'T BE A SURPRISE
BUT RISE, RISE, RISE

(SONG LYRIC) WAITING TO COLLIDE

WAITING TO COLLIDE

***
PRETTY LACE AND PERFUME
A SMILE TO MATCH THE SPARKLE IN YOUR EYES
I WATCH YOU MOVE IN THE DIM LIGHTS GLOW
YOU ALREADY HAD ME YOU KNOW
WHEN I DANCED WITH YOU, YOU LIKED IT
I HELD YOU A LITTLE CLOSER UNTIL THE MUSIC STOPPED
YOUR HIPS STILL SWAYED GENTLY BENEATH MY HANDS
KIND OF FINALIZED MY PLANS

WE LEFT TOGETHER YOU HANGING ON MY ARM
I WAS TAKEN BY YOUR CHARM
TONIGHT YOU WON'T HAVE TO BE ALONE
TONIGHT I'M TAKING YOU HOME
THIS BEAUTY BEFORE ME GOES FIRST
I NEEDED A DRINK AND SHE QUENCHED MY THIRST
NOW RIGHT BESIDE YOU IS WHERE I STAND
WE GOT TOGETHER AND MADE ALL KINDS OF PLANS

CHORUS

YOU AND I WERE WAITING TO COLLIDE WITH ONE ANOTHER
THESE THINGS OFTEN TAKE SO LONG
MAYBE THATS WHAT MAKES THIS BOND BETWEEN US SO STRONG
WHAT WAS MEANT TO BE
SHALL GIVE YOU EYES TO SEE
RIGHT INSIDE A SOUL
THERES NO GUESSING, IT'S WHAT I KNOW
I'VE BEEN MISSING, I'VE BEEN MISSING YOU SO LONG
I ALMOST GAVE UP BUT I KNEW BETTER THAN TO KNOW, THIS WAS THROUGH
NOW ALL MY LOVES TO YOU

I DON'T WANT TO BE ALL THAT, EXCEPT TO YOU
I JUST WANT ALL YOUR LOVE, WHILE I'M LOVING YOU
WE WERE WAITING TO COLLIDE
EVERYTHING HIDDEN INSIDE, THIS MOMENT
PRETTY LACE AND PERFUME
A SMILE TO MATCH THE SPARKLE IN YOUR EYES
I WATCHED YOU MOVE IN THE DIM LIGHTS GLOW
LOOKED INTO YOUR VERY SOUL

13th Annual 2015 River City Classics Car Show

High River Alberta Canada

I was fortunate this year to finally attend the High River show for the first time and it was a great show with so many great cars to look at, they seemed to stretch on for miles through the town streets, roads and even filling up a park.
The show was the biggest show in Southern Alberta since 2002, and continues to grow. The entrance fee is only $10 per car and a donation of a food item to the local food bank. The Show differs from most others because you may enter any make, model or year of car regardless of it's condition.
