DEATH BY CHOCOLATE NOW A REAL POSSIBILITY

DEATH BY CHOCOLATE NOW A REAL POSSIBILITY

Written by; J. R Hilton

It's the same old story, if it's good for you or fun, someones going to spoil it for everyone and turn it into something different and very bad. In this case it's evil. Chocolate has been making a lot of people happy for centuries, releasing feel good endorphins, even saving peoples lives perhaps.
like most things, the further back in time you go, the healthier these things usually were. I'm sure in war time that chocolate was always well received.

Many of the present day snack companies along with mass producers of chocolate, seem to be taking a gamble that doesn't seem a likely success, and more likely and even hopefully they will put themselves out of business all by themselves or stand up and do the right thing.

Whether they will in time before their demise from declining sales as people educate themselves against the dangers of consuming any products that contain, corn, soy, wheat, or any other plant grown with genetically modified seed a.k.a. GMO.

Add Aspartame to this combination to make it even more deadly. I try to avoid Aspartame like the plague but I happened to pick up some gum the other day that I thought did not contain these products,  but after chewing 4 pieces of this gum, I developed an instant headache. When I read the label, sure enough it contained enough Aspartame to choke a horse. I otherwise never get headaches. I can experience the same thing if I have even one sip of a diet pop. I'm not a scientist or even an expert here to espouse the scientific facts for or against. What I am though, is a self preservationist who believes in transparency in government.

YOU SHOULD KNOW WHAT'S IN IT BEFORE EATING IT

I don't think I have to tell you the root cause of this toxic mess being quietly shoved down everyone's throat, but anyone with any self preservation skills would know that it's companies the likes of Monsanto that's immorally corrupting governments with billions of dollars, who in turn are okaying whatever Monsanto does and turning both Health Canada and the F.D.A. into a laughable safety net to protect Canadians and Americans, while undermining the very reasons their responsibilities are supposed to uphold.

I have already stopped buying a lot of products that now contain GMO or Aspartame and it's various other namesakes. Wake up people, you can't even enjoy an apple anymore unless it's certified organic as pesticides change more than the safety. I grew up on a farm and sometimes I wish I was still there with the empowerment that growing your own food gives one. I would be 100% organic, all the way.

Kudos to the Peruvians that recently voted to keep GMO's out of their country. Everyone should educate themselves and their children about the dangers of GMO's and artificial sweeteners to ensure a healthy future for all. Make your voice heard and be active in matters that concern our health and welfare.

The Observer

The Observer

Written by: J.R Hilton

The trials and tribulations of modern day man are becoming increasingly complicated. People are constantly bombarded by the media with things that give plenty of reason to worry about them.  At the same time we are told that worry is bad for our health.  How many of you have ever been told that you worry too much ?  I know I have. What if we change the word to concern ?  I think that I don't worry so much as I have serious concerns that are legitimate at times.

Call it what you want, but don't tell me I worry too much when my whole future is on the line on a personal level and my health is in jeopardy. At the moment, I don't know what or how, where or even if, in regards to my future. Many of you may have similar personal concerns. Above personal concerns there's lots of things we should be concerned about.

I'd like to know where this is.

What about the seriousness of the depth that corruption, deception and even conspiracies go to in political circles ?
What about companies like Monsanto and the likes being in bed with political leaders ?  So the experts claim that with the current level of population growth, food production will not be able to keep up with the demand. It's already been proven that GMO's  are one of the biggest health risks ever perpetuated by man.

Ya that instills confidence

As you eat your way through life everyday, keep in mind that your Government is allowing you to become a participant of what could be an attempt at a population cull. Your chances of not getting seriously ill from consuming products with Aspartame and genetically modified seeds are not good. The benefits of Soy have been touted as healthy. Perhaps it was, but not if GMO seeds are being used to plant the Soy.

The list of food that contains aspartame and or GMO is growing longer by the day and we the people must fight back any way we can. First, you need to be educated as to exactly what foods and candy contain these toxic time-bombs. It's not hard information to find on the web.

All this has certainly changed my eating and snacking habits. Is it conspiracy or just plain pigs in the trough greed fueled by money and power ?

How about the weather, is anyone concerned about that ?
Storms that are increasing with frequency and severity. There are even conspiracy theories about this. People that live in low lying areas below sea level and right on the coast should be concerned and even rethink their choice of location. Exposed to storms and Tsunamis from earthquakes, I think I would move inland and make a stand from there. The exception being not in a known hurricane alley.

Solar flares, doomsday forecasters, war, famine, genocide.
Don't worry. Just be very concerned and protect yourself and your family by using clear logic and mans ancient protection mechanism of fight or flight. Whether you believe in conspiracy or not it's good to at least know what they are about. As for food. You are what you eat has taken on a whole new meaning that your survival and your health depends on.

Picking Puppies

Picking Puppies
Written by: Jeff R Hilton

When you go out to look at puppies with obtaining one in mind, you probably are already armed with at least some information, like knowing what kind of breed you are going to see, based on research that matched up your needs to the dogs needs. Possibly their age and sex, and beyond that a decision is often based on what each puppy looks like and the one that you are attracted to the most. Getting the latest designer dog, meaning the breed that is currently trending is usually not a good idea. Stick to a breed that does match your needs and meets theirs as a responsible owner.

There are other things to consider. Which one comes to you willingly. Which ones have more energy, or are they all charged up ?  If you are interested in a certain one, see if it makes a fuss when you put a paw gently in your hand and hold it, or is patient enough to just let you and wait for you to finish. Pick the pup up carefully and cradle it. Does it wriggle like mad and try to get away. If so, this is usually not a good sign if you are looking for a more mellow laid back dog that's easy to train.

Watch all of them play together and look for any signs of aggression from one to another. One might be more aggressive then the others. chances are, you probably won't want that one. Look for clear eyes and no signs of any discharge. Look at the pups parents and note their temperament, as this will almost always be an indicator to the kind of dog the pups will become. Pups that are okay with you handling them and meet a few other criteria including temperament of parents, are often chosen to be service dogs for disabled people. It is for the same reason that these kinds of dogs usually make well rounded family pets.

With such a large percentage of aging population, the need for more service dogs will continue to grow steadily. Most people only think of service dogs as, seeing eye dogs for the blind, but in fact, their talents extend so far beyond that so as to be quite amazing accomplishments for our canine friends. Dogs are used for petting therapy for the elderly and the sick. They are used for search and rescue. As aide's to wheelchair bound persons, constantly retrieving items needed for everyday life, even helping out to put clothes on and that list is almost endless with possibilities.

 PRESS PLAY ABOVE

If you are an absolute dog lover with lots of patience, you like to train dogs and are knowledgeable with a knack for it  you might even consider a career training service dogs yourself. Do not buy animals from puppy mills. It's morally wrong and in all likelihood, it will cost you more in the long run as most come with a host of dangerous ailments already present. When it comes time for neutering or spaying, always use a reputable vet clinic.

Dogs have a great record as stress reducers and although most can cause stress at one time or another, in the end, it's all worth it for mans best friend.

DOG LOVER FOR LIFE

Chloe

DOG LOVER FOR LIFE

Written by: Jeffrey R Hilton

***
Dogs have been a best friend of man for 1000's of years. Although their relationships and purposes varied, one common theme has remained and that is one of a faithful and loyal companion. It's often sad to see that there are varying degrees of what people deem as dog ownership in regards to their well being and care.

There are always people around that have bigger hearts than their own ability to maintain an ongoing healthy relationship with the dog. Yes I'm talking about Rescue Dogs. While it's a noble gesture, most people don't realize how psychologically damaged some of these dogs can be and the time and patience needed for such an animal. Taking on a rescue dog is a huge responsibility and for those that are willing to rescue a dog and put in the extra work and expertise it takes to rehabilitate them along with all the kindness, you are to be commended.

It takes a lot more than a big heart and willingness to succeed at rehab. Behavioral problems can develop or exist in any dog but a dog that has been abused can be especially challenging to even get them to gain your complete trust.
If there is a message I am trying to convey, it is that any fool can own a dog, but it takes a true dog lover to patiently work through problems as they arise and to willingly seek out advice from experts on such matters and particularly to own a rescue dog.

These dogs often come with little or no information as to what the dog has been through, the exception being the information gathered from the dogs condition, behaviors and present reactions to his surroundings and his charges.

The amount of free dogs available online now is alarming but certainly the right place to start looking and highly recommended rather than supporting a surplus of breeder
supplied dogs at inflated prices. If you are on a tight budget and looking for a certain breed to come up free, be patient and vigilant, it will show up. Always get a dog that has habits that reflect your own lifestyle. Match this as closely as you can but remember all dogs need exercise and stimulation. Some much more than others.

Safety Tips and Alerts

Never, I repeat never buy dog treats from dollar stores and particularly if they are from China as many dogs in North America have reportedly died lately from consuming these.

Always be vigilant about your dog being in your backyard in regards to someone trying to poison your dog by throwing poisoned food into your yard. this occurs more often than you think as there are many people out there that do hate dogs and are sadistic and nasty enough to do such a thing. Often it's a dog that's left in the yard a lot and constantly barks. Some of these people would rather poison your dog than call animal services. Sad but true. I know of at least one person that had a note anonymously put in his mailbox saying that the writer would kill his dogs if he didn't shut them up.

WINDOW TO MY SOUL / A SONG LYRIC

HOW MANY ROADS

Written by : JR Hilton  June 30/2012

BENT AND BUSTED, I KNEW I SHOULDN'T HAVE TRUSTED
TIME WOULD BE KIND
BROKEN AND MENDED,  I KNEW I SHOULD HAVE TENDED TO MY SOUL MORE
THE THINGS THAT I KNEW WERE IMPORTANT
I THOUGHT WOULD ALWAYS BE THERE
I WAS WRONG,  OH BOY  WAS I WRONG
TIME AND TIME AGAIN
I WAS ONCE I WAS TWICE I WAS THREE TIMES IN A PLACE IN MY LIFE
I THOUGHT THAT I COULD STAY
I THOUGHT THAT IT WOULD BE OKAY
I WAS WRONG AND NOW IT'S ALL GONE
SCATTERED TO THE WINDS TO HANG THERE IN TIME
IN IT'S NEW REALITY

chorus

NOW EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE IS GONE
HOW MANY ROADS DO I HAVE TO TAKE
SEEMS EVERY ONE SO FAR HAS BEEN A MISTAKE
I'M PUSHING BACK BUT I KNOW WHAT I'M UP AGAINST
ALWAYS A FIGHT TO KEEP ANYTHING I DARE CALL MINE
MAYBE ALL I NEED IS ME,  TO WALLOW IN THIS MISERY
EVEN THOUGH THAT'S NOT WHAT I BELIEVE
AND I'VE COME SO FAR
STILL LOOKING FOR MY LUCKY STARS
HOW MANY ROADS

NOW EVERY DAYS A STRUGGLE TO STAY HERE
WHEN THE SUN SHINES BEFORE THE SKIES GET DARK
CLOUDING OVER TO RAIN ON ME AGAIN
THAT GLIMMER OF HOPE AND THEN I FIND MYSELF
TAKING SHELTER PALE AS WHITE
WHY DOES IT ALWAYS HAVE TO BE A FIGHT
IS THERE ONLY PEACE AT THE END
ALL THESE EMOTIONS DANCING IN A KALEIDOSCOPE
SHAKE IT UP AGAIN COULD THERE BE ANY HOPE
MAKE IT REAL AND MAKE IT MINE
MAKE IT SWEET LIKE BLACKBERRY WINE

SOMETIMES I WISH THAT I COULD CLOSE MY EYES
OPEN THEM AGAIN TO SUNNY SKIES
THAT GO ON FOREVER
BUT JUST LIKE ALWAYS I NEVER SEE IT FOR LONG
NEVER GET TO BE IT BECAUSE IT NEVER TAGS ALONG
FREE IS JUST A STATE OF MIND,  I CAN'T SEEM TO GRASP
HAPPINESS IS FLEETING AS SURE AS TIME IS PAST
IF YOU WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE ON ME
HERE'S WHAT'S LEFT OF MY HEART

PETS GIVE LIFE AND HOPE

A bird in hand

PETS GIVE LIFE AND HOPE

WRITTEN BY: J R HILTON

***

While many people don't believe they are pet people and swear against owning a pet of any kind, thankfully many more do believe and reap the benefits that are many. Pets can lower elevated blood pressure just by being around them and especially giving a dog a stroke or two. Others get the same effect from stroking a cat, and still others own multiple animals.  Keeping any pet and taking care to feed it, nurture it and see that it gets proper stimulation and exercise is good therapy for a lot of things.

A pet is an excellent way to fight depression and can give older people a reason to stay active as well as teach kids to be responsible and develop bonds with animals that will parallel with life's intricacies of relationships with other people. One can learn an awful lot from animals and birds, lizards etc. Most animals have personalities as varied as humans and can be downright fun to watch, and of course as we all know nature can be cruel at times,  but when it is, it's nature doing what it was intended to do among animal species.

I love all animals, I'm just more fond of some than others. I discovered a long time ago that I have a way with birds. Whenever I enter the room where my birds are, If the room is silent when I enter, all my birds start chirping like crazy to say hello. I actively change things around in their cages, rearranging, adding or taking away stuff to stimulate their environment and appeal to their curious nature.

I love dogs but am not in a position to own one presently but soon as I can again, I will. In the meantime I will just enjoy my birds and my girls old dog that stays over periodically. We start out by teaching our dogs tricks but in the end it is they that can show us a few things, not limited to loving unconditionally.

In closing I will say once again, pets are an important part of life and pets often save lives. Go get one that suits your lifestyle and fits your budget. take care of it and it will take care of you.

Last Vestiges Of A Sane And Civil World

LAST VESTIGES OF A SANE
AND CIVIL WORLD

Written by : J R Hilton

***
Sometimes we cling onto what we know and what we are comfortable with in life,  and any variations of this can throw us off and make us uncomfortable.  Adaptability is King,  these days,  and there's never been a time when we needed to adapt so quickly and often as we do right now.  Oh sure there are lots of us that don't feel we need to change or keep up with the times and their crazy goings on. These are mostly older people that know that their time left on earth is limited enough that they don't need to worry overly much and will carry on just as they always have.

The fact is that there isn't much that hasn't changed.  Cities have swollen to population sizes that have infrastructures that can't keep up to the demand.  The same people that used to be locked up in mental hospitals are mostly free to roam the streets and carve out some kind of meager existence, usually with Government assistance.  Criminals often have more rights than their victims. Jails are always at capacity or more and parole boards constantly let out offenders to make more room for new prisoners and those released often go back to what they know best and kill again.

Hidden agendas abound in Government and the private sector that are self serving with roots in greed.  Cost of living pay rises are quickly either becoming a thing of the past or so paltry as to make a mockery of the average person keeping up with the inflation rate.
Companies use WCB to hide behind when a worker gets injured while WCB does an astounding job of blowing legitimate injury claimants away and turning their lives upside down.  I know, I'm one of them.

We have guys like Mitch Romney running for the presidency in the USA.  This guy makes George Bush look like Steven Hawking in comparison.  Not much has changed in Canada.  We are still subjected to the same kind of Governments that don't believe in transparency and let agencies like WCB run their business like the Mafia.  " We are cutting you off, there's nothing wrong with you, and if you don't like it,  well,  just piss off now !  Ha Ha you're screwed, because we can do whatever we like.

Accountability is out the window these days with many organizations and institutions,  and with many people.  By the time we reach a certain age, we know explicitly whom we can trust and whom we cannot.  Everyone is suspect until they prove otherwise.
When we are young, we have little tolerance for the vagaries of life and other peoples differences,  are strong willed and mostly unyielding to change unless we see instant gratification connected to it.

As we get older we mellow out and become more tolerant of others,  hopefully,  and we see things differently.  We are not so quick to fight for others causes, and more inclined to fight for our own.
Death becomes more of a certain reality and makes some of us wish we could of done more with our lives and reflect on how we would do things differently if we could do them over again.  We reflect on our immortality, and if we can think long enough and hard enough we discover a kind of second chance that's always been there,  but we used life's inconsistencies as an excuse for not thinking we could have realized this earlier.

That's the thing about life,  death,  is the only time it's truly too late to start over and do it better.  At least as a mortal. We are always stronger and more resilient than we think we are.  We go through tragedies,  misadventures,  and endure great failures and at some point, we get back up and dust ourselves off and go on our way.
While not everyone does this or does it well, we all have the power to do it.  Without failure, successes would be little or non existent.
Life is all about trial and error.

I believe we have passed a milestone in life of gross excesses and economies worldwide are now suffering and crumbling.  Of course in some countries the excesses were only shared by the heartless murderous regimes that ran them,  but in the Western world,  excesses were enjoyed by the masses.
Having so many countries in the EU with different views and goals,  all connected to the same monetary system is proving to be baptism by fire.  Trouble is,  all these economies including our own,  are connected one way or other and have worldwide repercussions.

The present days state of affairs is nothing to brag about.  If you're still with me here, I cannot resist a chance to voice my displeasure with the way other countries are handling the crisis in Syria. It seems everyone's afraid to do anything about it and when in these modern times ethnic cleansing is being perpetuated on a scale of what is going in in Syria,  this raises serious questions.  Where the answers to these are is a mystery.

Conspiracies are alive and well still to this day and more are coming to light all the time.  Kudos to the many people that expose these.  Corruption always hides behind whatever and whoever is willing.  There is still hope for humanity,  but how much and how soon is anyone's guess.  We just have to keep on going and keep trying and be willing to fail before we succeed.  Bottom line keep trying and try harder.  Expect change,  and embrace it.  Never stop fighting for what you believe in.
