Country Dream

Jeffrey Hilton

COUNTRY DREAM

RODEO I GOTTA GO
BUCKING BRONCOS
RIDING DOWN THESE RANGE ROADS
LOOKING AT THE ROLLING FOOTHILLS
PRAIRIE GRASS AND SAGE
ANCIENT WHISPERS FROM ANOTHER AGE
BIG FARMS SMALL FARMS
WITH ALL THE MOUNTAINS FOR A VIEW
IT'S HARD TO LOOK AWAY
COYOTES CROSSING THE FIELD
IN THE MORNING SUN
EAGLES CIRCLING THE SKIES ABOVE
GOT THE RABBITS GONE TO GROUND

I'D LIKE TO LIVE HERE
BUT LIFE'S GOT OTHER PLANS
IN THE CITY WHERE I DON'T BELONG
AND IT DOESN'T TAKE LONG
BEFORE I FIND MYSELF OUT ON THESE RANGE ROADS
WHERE I FEEL ALIVE
FILL MY SOUL WITH SWEET COUNTRY DREAMS
 BIG OLD COUNTRY MOON
RISING ABOVE THE TREES
DON'T TAKE MUCH TO SATISFY ME
LONE WOLF HOWLING ON A HILL
THEN SILENCE ALL AROUND
 COUNTRY NIGHT MY FAVORITE SOUND

DOWN BY THE RIVER DEEP IN THE WOODS
I'D BUILD A LITTLE HOUSE IF I COULD
I'D LIKE TO GET A HORSE AND RIDE THE RANGE
RIGHT INTO THE PINES
RIDE OUT ONTO A RIDGE
AS THE SUNS GOING DOWN
JUST ME AND THAT HORSE
SILHOUETTED AGAINST THE SKY
I'D RIDE HIM FAST
I'D RIDE HIM SLOW
I'D WALK BESIDE HIM AS THE SUNS SINKING LOW
IN MY MIND THAT'S FREE
YOU COULDN'T FIND ME
I'LL FIND YOU INSTEAD, IF I WANT

BUT NO LOOK AT ME
BARELY HANGING ONTO THIS LIFE OF MINE
BUT THAT DON'T STOP ME NONE FROM DREAMING
OF RANGE ROADS, THAT LEAD ME HOME
A LITTLE BIT OF COUNTRY THAT I CAN CALL MY OWN
I CAN ALMOST HEAR THE COUNTRY SILENCE
SETTLING INTO MY SOUL
IT'S SOMETHING I NEED TO FEEL
SOMETHING I NEED TO BE REAL
I LIE HERE IN MY BED
DREAMS OF RANGE ROADS IN THE COUNTRY
FILL MY HEAD
COUNTRY DREAM, I HAVE SEEN THE FUTURE
