STROLLING THROUGH MY MIND

WRITTEN BY: JEFFREY ROBERT HILTON JUNE 2016

KICKING AROUND THE DIRT ON THE GROUND
STIRRING UP OLD GHOSTS AND DUST
I REMEMBER MY FATHER SAYING
I DON'T REALLY WANT YOU TO GO
BUT GO IF YOU MUST
DETERMINED AS HIM I WAS GONE
NERVOUS ENERGY RARING TO GO
WITH THE WIND IN MY WILD HAIR
AND MY THUMB HELD HIGH
IT'S FINALLY MY TURN TO FLY

WALKING THROUGH STREETS THAT I DON'T KNOW
IS THIS THE PLACE I'M GOING
IS THIS WHERE I SHOULD STOP AND EARN MY WAY
IS THIS THE PLACE I WANT TO STAY
WEARY FROM THE ROAD
LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO REST MY HEAD
OR MAYBE I SHOULD KEEP GOING INSTEAD
WALKING THROUGH MY THOUGHTS
STROLLING THROUGH MY MIND
BEAUTY ISN'T HARD TO FIND
IT'S ALL AROUND YOU, INSIDE YOU, IN WAITING

IN WIDE OPEN SPACES AND TIGHT LITTLE CANYONS
I FOUND MYSELF, ONE TRIP AT A TIME
COULDN'T LEAVE IT BEHIND
NOW IT'S SOMETHING I SEE WHEN I CAN
AND I'M LONG OVERDUE ONCE AGAIN
SOMETIMES CIRCUMSTANCE DRIVES A WEDGE
BETWEEN ME AND THE THINGS I LOVE
THE THINGS I NEED TO FEED MY SOUL
THE THINGS THAT GET UP AND GO
TAKE ME IN THEIR WAKE
SO I CAN FIND MYSELF AGAIN
